If you have a legal issue, Gary Humble can help you. Mr. Humble, a retired Assistant United States Attorney, has more than 40 years of trial practice in both federal and state court. He has successfully represented clients in both civil and criminal cases. He has had, he estimates, well more than 100 felony jury trials in federal court. He has investigated and tried numerous complex frauds of every kind, political corruption, money laundering, and  many other kinds of criminal violations. In addition, he has helped many people with their wills, estate planning and the probate process.

Mr. Humble was first elected Judge for the Town of Signal Mountain in August 2018 and re-elected to a full 8-year term in August 2022. The court has “both jurisdiction over all infractions of municipal ordinances of the Town of Signal Mountain, and concurrent jurisdiction with courts of general sessions in all cases of the violation of criminal laws committed within the corporate limits of the Town of Signal Mountain, including the jurisdiction to conduct preliminary examinations and bind over defendants to the grand jury for indictment.” This is a continuing part-time judicial position.

In addition to trying a large number of significant criminal cases, Mr. Humble has also tried and won numerous civil cases, from wrongful death to slip and fall at the post office. In many cases, he has been able to obtain dismissals for his clients in criminal cases and favorable settlements in civil cases. Mr. Humble will give your case the time and quality attention it deserves, whether it involves negotiating with lawyers or prosecutors, navigating the dangerous waters of a federal grand jury investigation, or trying the case. He has worked with virtually all law enforcement agencies, whether state or federal.

Mr. Humble's prior experience includes:

  • Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee

  • Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia

  • Trial Attorney, Antitrust Division, Trial Section, U.S. Department of Justice (Washington, D.C.)

In federal court cases, excellent writing is highly valued and a necessary skill in advocating effectively for a client's interests. Mr. Humble has many years of valuable experience in writing briefs, motions, and memoranda.

The initial consultation is free. In most cases, a flat fee for each matter is agreed upon with the client. Once that fee has been paid, the client can expect no additional charges for Mr. Humble's legal services. Fees vary according to the type of matter, its complexity, and the time anticipated to be necessary to provide quality service.
